Everyone loves good Scott Adkins movies.
The British born martial artist often referred as ‘the straight-to-DVD king’ gained huge international fame in the past ten years.
A respected name in the martial arts action genre, Adkins is known for his stunning, yet realistic combat performances that are more than obvious in movies such as “Undisputed 2: Last Man Standing”, “Undisputed 3: Redemption”, and more recently in the fourth installment of the franchise “Boyka: Undisputed”, which just got a Blu-Ray release.
If you are familiar with Adkins’ work then you surely watched him kick ass in flicks such as in Isaac Florentine’s “Ninja” and in the followed sequel “Ninja 2: Shadow of a Tear” in which he portrays Casey Bowman.
These are among the best ninja movies in the new millennium, especially given the fact that the production of ninja films becomes more and more rare.
Not to mention the teamwork with his friend and idol Jean-Claude Van Damme in the actioners “Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning”, “Assassination Games”, and “The Shepherd”.
It is such a pleasure to watch two of the most renowned action heroes in one movie, we all agree about that.
While Scott appeared in many funny action movies like in “Legendary” for example, he also participated in a series of big-budgeted Hollywood productions.
In that train of thought, he had small roles in “The Bourne Ultimatum” with Matt Damon, Kathryn Bigelow’s award-winning history-thriller “Zero Dark Thirty”, Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables 2”, and lately in the sci-fi blockbuster “Doctor Strange” starring the versatile Benedict Cumberbatch.
While Scott’s name is popular in the underground action genre, he still doesn’t receive the mainstream recognition that he deserves, even though he is arguably this generation’s most spectacular action star.
Hopefully, this will happen in the years to come as Adkins works relentlessly and continues to amaze with his movies.
So what to expect from him in the close future?
I will tell you what – only kick ass actioners.
Let’s see the films that are about to be released starring Scott Adkins in the leading role.

“Triple Threat” (2018)
I just can’t start without mentioning this movie first.
This is quite possibly one of the most anticipated theatrical releases in the martial arts action genre, which is expected to air the next year.
I can hardly remember if such an impressive cast of established martial arts actors has ever been assembled before.
The action-thriller directed by Jesse V. Johnson gathers on one screen Scott Adkins, Michael-Jai White, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais (“The Raid”, ‘Headshot’), Tiger Chen and Michael Bisping.
The plot revolves around a team of disgraced mercenaries who fight to protect a billionaire’s daughter from an elite force brigade comprised of professional assassins.
It is known that Tony Jaa, Tiger Chen, and Iko Uwais will play the protagonists whilst Scott Adkins, Michael-Jai White and Bisping will portray villains.
It won’t be exaggerated to say that “Triple Threat” may fulfill every martial arts action fan’s dream by exposing what it is like to have such an impressive group of stars in one movie.
This could be “The Expendables” on the martial arts action scene.
The film is still in production so we will have to wait several months to see the final result but from what is known until know, this promises to be sensational.
“Malevolence” (2018)
This is another intriguing project in development in which Scott Adkins will once again play a villain.
One has to admit that such roles fit him perfectly as long he is performing the gravity-defying martial arts that we all love.
“Malevolence” will mark Adkins’ fourth collaboration with Dolph Lundgren.
Both action heroes have previously starred together in “Legendary” (2013), “Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning” (2012) and “The Expendables 2” (2012).
The story centers on the undisputed underground fighter Brandon Jones (Dolph).
One day he is ordered to lose a fight by a powerful mob for a high stake but he just fails to obey and beats his opponent.
The followed punishment is the brutal murder of his wife and daughter and for Brandon being physically and mentally injured.
When he recovers, he goes out for revenge and must deal with merciless fighters and a corrupted police officer (Scott Adkins) who stands on his way.
The action is ready to kick off and it promises to be a cheap, yet spectacular entertainment.
Dolph Lundgren is set to also direct the movie.
Let’s cross fingers that the end result will be an intense and action-packed martial arts flick.
“Altar Rock” (2018)
This one will be an intense action-thriller with some romantic elements.
As per deadline.com, the movie will follow the story of two lovers on the island of Nantucket whose fairytale romance is about to be disrupted by family loyalty.
The director is the Polish filmmaker Andrzej Bartkowiak, who is mostly known as a cinematographer for huge movies like “Speed” (1994), “The Devil’s Advocate” (1997), and “Lethal Weapon 4” (1998).
His most famous films as a director include “Romeo Must Die” with Jet Li as well as “Exit Wounds” with Dmx and Steven Seagal.
It is reported that the other actors who join forces with Scott Adkins for “Altar Rock” are K.J. Apa (“Riverdale”), India Eisley (“Underworld: Awakening”), James Remar (“Mortal Combat: Annihilation”), etc.
I suppose that this would be a decent movie given the fact that director Andrzej Bartkowiak has the necessary experience to create a haunting action-thriller.

“Accident Man” (2018)
Update: ‘Accident Man’ is already out and it kicks ass!
Another action-thriller starring the “straight-to-DVD king” Scott Adkins, “Accident Man” will follow the adventures of the stone cold hitman Mike Fallon (Adkins).
Known for his high-style living, he is the best at what he does and he always makes his assassinations look like accidents.
The action kicks off after his beloved ex-wife is brutally killed and Fallon unleashes hell to track and find the ones responsible for the murder of the only person he felt attached to.
Sounds cool, isn’t it?
One has to admit that stories centered on charismatic hitmen always tend to haunt the audiences.
What is cooler is that Scott Adkins’ fellow martial arts star Michael-Jai White is also attached to the flick as well as Ray Stevenson (“Divergent”).
Oh, and there are some sexy chicks too, namely the gorgeous Ashley Greene (“The Twilight”) and the stunt woman Amy Johnston as Jane the Ripper.
The stuntman Tim Man, the man who worked with Scott Adkins on “Ninja: Shadow of a Tear” and on “Boyka: Undisputed” joins the action this time again.
The director of the movie, which is loosely based on the UK comic “Toxic!” is John V. Johnson who is currently busy with the above-mentioned “Triple Threat”.
The script is a co-work between Scott Adkins himself and Stu Small.
It is always a pleasure to watch such a group of martial artists in a single movie, so I’m rather optimistic about the quality of this low-budgeted action flick.
“The Debt Collector” (2018)
Directed by Jesse V. Johnson (again) and starring Michael Paré, (‘The Lincoln Lawyer’) Tony Todd (‘Night of the Living Dead), and Louis Mandylor (‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding), this one is just yet another promising project which started filming only a few days ago.
Watch the trailer here.
The plot will revolve around the highly-skilled martial artist French (Adkins) who goes to work as a debt collector for the mob.
The seemingly easy job goes awry when French messes up with a dangerous client who pulls him into an impossible situation.
After that, the action kicks off with a blast and we can expect a spectacular and explosive actioner.
The movie has an estimated budget of $5 000 000 and promises to deliver some quality martial arts scenes, courtesy of Scott Adkins.
We will have to wait a few more months to see it, hopefully, this year.
“Twilight Zodiac” (2018)
This is an international action project in development headed by the experienced director Ernie Barabarash (‘Assassination Games‘).
It is known that Scott Adkins will have a leading role in the movie which is a Chinese production.
The other stars expected to join ‘Twilight Zodiac’ are Andy On (‘Black Mask 2: City of Masks’), the sexy Lily Ji (‘Pacific Rim: Uprising), and the stuntman from ‘Undisputed’ Brahim Achabbakhe.
The fight choreography is expected to be top-notch given the fact that it will be supervised by Tim Man (‘Ninja 2: Shadow of a Tear’, ‘Undisputed’).
The plot is not yet revealed but stay tuned for some news pretty soon.
“Incoming” (2018)
Filmed entirely in Serbia, “Incoming” is an upcoming sci-fi actioner set in the International Space Station which now serves as a prison.
When the prisoners take over the station and intend to use it as a missile aimed at Moscow, a shuttle pilot and a young doctor are the ones that try to spoil their plans.
Their task gets very complicated when a rogue CIA agent (Scott Adkins) gets in the game and appears to have his own secret agenda for the Space Station and the prisoners turned terrorists.
The movie will mark the directorial debut of the utterly unknown Eric Zaragoza.
The cast includes also Aaron McCusker, Ala Safi, and the beautiful Michelle Lehane.
As you are already guessing, this is most probably going to be a cheap funny action movie so nothing much to be expected here.
“Incoming” smells like a bad and unpretentious, yet entertaining sci-fi flick.
I am pretty sure though, that Scott Adkins will deliver stunning martial arts performance as usual, which would be the main reason to pay attention to this movie.
Conclusion
Scott Adkins’ film work will always be on our radar.
His projects in development are engaging enough to impatiently expect them.
However, from the four movies described, I am mostly looking forward to watching “Triple Threat” as it looks absolutely impressive.
