Time is like the birds. It flies.
It’s so good to see your favorite action heroes from the 90’s still alive and kicking like in the good old days.
It was like yesterday when the young JCVD made his spectacular breakthrough in ‘Bloodsport’ back in 1988.
Can you imagine that the so-called Muscles from Brussels turns 57 this year?
Be sure to remember this when watching Jean-Claude Van Damme in ‘Black Water’ – the highly anticipated action-thriller in which he teams up with his longtime friend and fellow action star Dolph Lundgren.
‘Black Water’, which is expected to air in 2018, marks their first appearance on screen as allies.
Until now, the Swedish giant and the Belgium martial arts star have starred in four movies together, always trying to frantically kill each other on-screen.
First, Dolph wanted to desperately terminate Jean-Claude in three ‘Universal Soldier’ films and then it was finally Van Damme’s turn to take his revenge and to do everything possible to slaughter Lundgren in ‘Expendables 2’.
Tooth for a tooth, eye for an eye, right?
Now, both action veterans want to surprise you.
They are on the same side, looking in a great shape, joining forces in order to stop a sinister conspiracy.

The Plot:
This potential funny action movie will revolve around the cover agent Wheeler who awakens in a dark cold place, only to find himself held by the CIA on the board of a nuclear submarine.
There, he encounters a lot of troubles and teams up with Marco in order to save his life and clear his name.
That is pretty much all that is known for the story at this point.
Don’t expect something too much complicated.
It’s a Van- Damme Dolph Lundgren direct to video actioner.
Cast and Crew:
The movie is directed by the debutant Pasha Patriki who has done mainly cinematographic work for several cheap actioners.
Jean-Claude plays Wheeler and Lundgren is Marco who becomes his sidekick on the board of the nuclear submarine.
What would an action movie be without some sexy female supporting role?
The hot actress and model Jasmine Waltz is a perfect choice as Cassie Taylor.
We’ll have to wait and see what role her character exactly has in the film but I doubt that it will be something very different from just looking attractive.
She is mainly known for participating in ‘Celebrity Big Brother 13’ and ‘Celebrity Big Brother 17’
At some point in the trailer, we see her dressing up, so I’m not sure about her acting skills, but you have to agree with me that she is unarguably hot.
Patrick Kilpatrick, the star from the ultra-funny action movie ‘Scanner Cop 2’ plays Ferris – the villain with a psychotic plan.
Kris Van Damme – Jean-Claude’s son also has a minor role in the movie, proudly standing beside his famous father.
Let’s cut to the chase now.
Thoughts and Impressions About Jean-Claude Van Damme in ‘Black Water’
One has to admit that the trailer looks cool.
It is fast-paced and we see some really intense action scenes.
I’d say that ‘Black Water’ looks better than most of the recent Van Damme movies and it can be a worthy watching experience.
You might agree that the movies set in isolated venues like in this case a nuclear submarine deep underwater always create a sweet claustrophobic feeling.
That can only enhance the cinematic experience.
There are also some funny one-liners as well as some jokes exchanged between Jean-Claude and his long-time colleague and friend Dolph Lundgren.
It’s always great to see not just one but two of your favorite action heroes on-screen kicking ass, still having love for the guns, the fights the fire, and the whole action thing.
The movie definitely won’t be a masterpiece but sure enough, that’s far from its purpose.
Nobody would expect the greatest action movie ever made or even something close to ‘Under Siege’ with Steven Seagal which is also set on a submarine.
What we’d love to see is some legendary Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren round sidekicks and karate moves as well as some action scenes like in the good old times.
Conclusion:
‘Black Water’ is expected to air in 2018 and is already a highly anticipated event for all the action fans around the world.
From what it appears, it will have everything that a funny action movie must deliver – mediocre, yet amusing acting, simple plot, decent action scenes and two of Hollywood’s action actors over 50 in a great shape.
What more one could ever want?
Well, maybe to see Van Damme in another ‘Expendables’ movie?
