Potty humor isn’t for everyone.
It’s crude, rude, and most of all, gross. People with more mature sensibilities think those kinds of jokes don’t belong outside the privacy of your own bathroom.
That’s fine for them. But, for everyone else, toilet humor is comedy of the highest order.
Is there any other topic more relatable? What happens in the bathroom is something everyone understands.
That’s what good comedy is all about! Looking at topics that everyone can relate to and mining the humor in it.
It might not be highbrow, but that doesn’t matter. No one can blame you for what makes you laugh.
Never grew out of your potty humor phase? That’s okay, neither did these screenwriters. Read on to find a list of the funniest toilet movie scenes.

Bridesmaids (2011)
At the time when “Bridesmaids” came out, having a movie starring an all female cast didn’t happen very often. There was a lot riding on the movie’s success because if it tanked, studios would be less likely to make similar films.
But, when it premiered, it instantly became a cultural sensation. Many lauded it as the funniest movie of the year.
One reason for that? The famous food poisoning scene that everyone was talking about when they left the theater.
In the movie, the bride, played by Maya Rudolph, and all of her bridesmaids get lunch. Kristen Wiig’s character promises everyone that the hole-in-the-wall Brazilian place she brought them to has great food.
Which it does. Going down, at least.
After lunch, the whole crew heads to a hoity-toity bridal store to try on dresses. Then, disaster in the form of food poisoning strikes. Five women have to fight over the bathroom and everyone loses (except the audience).
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)
Other than “Bridesmaids,” most toilet scenes show men as the literal butt of the joke. Not so in the stoner movie “Harold & Kumar Got to White Castle.” The classic “Battle Shits” scene involves two hot college girls.
In it, Harold and Kumar meet a pair of twins way out of their leagues. The guys secretly follow them to the bathroom to spy.
They’re happy to overhear that the girls are actually interested in them. But, it isn’t long before the mystique of the pristine hotties is ripped away.
The twins head into the bathroom stalls to get rid of the tacos they had for dinner. Harold and Kumar are forced to listen to the whole ordeal from the next stall. That’s what you get for following women to the bathroom!
There’s Something About Mary (1998)
Directed by The Farrelly Brothers, this hilariously gross scene involves a bathroom, but it’s completely different from the other scenes on this list.
During a flashback, Ben Stiller plays a younger version of his character, Ted. It’s prom night, and Ted is picking up his dream date, Mary, played by Cameron Diaz.
Everything seems to be going wrong, until the night is finally ruined beyond repair. Ted goes to the bathroom in Mary’s parent’s house. When he’s finished, he zips up his pants… and a few other things along with it.
It’s not just knowing that Ted did this that made audiences laugh and cringe. It was the fact that eventually you get to see the damage.
Trainspotting (1996)
“Trainspotting” starring Ewan McGregor, is a movie about heroin addiction. Though the subject isn’t very funny, it still has some light moments. It even has a gross-out bathroom scene.
As Ewan’s character, Renton, explains, heroin makes you constipated. But, after using a suppository, he can’t find a bathroom fast enough.
The scene is heightened even more when he finally finds a toilet. The only problem is that it’s the grossest bathroom in all of Scotland.
Dumb and Dumber (1994)
The Farrelly Brother’s, who also directed “Dumb and Dumber”, certainly love a good bathroom scene. And this one is just as over the top as the one in “There’s Something About Mary”.
Right before this scene, Lloyd had put a laxative in Harry’s drink, unbeknownst to him. Of course, it hits at a very inopportune moment, when he’s picking up at woman for a date.
While she’s finishing getting ready, Harry slips into her guest bathroom and does his business. If that wasn’t bad enough, his situation gets much worse when she mentions through the door that the toilet doesn’t flush.
This is everyone’s worst nightmare. What’s a guy to do? You’ll have to watch the scene to find out because it’s too outrageous to be believed.
Van Wilder (2002)
This film, starring a young Ryan Reynolds and Tara Reid, depicts what is maybe the most embarrassing bathroom scenario possible.
In the movie, Tara Reid’s character finds out her boyfriend, Richard, has been cheating on her. She uses the classic secret laxative tactic to exact her revenge on him.
Richard is set to meet with an admissions board of the med school he’s hoping to get into. She makes him a protein shake for breakfast, but when he isn’t looking, mixes in the subtly named laxative, “Colon Blow.”
When it kicks in, Richard tries to make it to the bathroom, but is intercepted by the admissions board on the way. Instead of finding a toilet, he finds a trashcan in the middle of the room.
Richard probably wished he had some toilet paper on him at that moment. Don’t be like Richard and get caught empty-handed. You can find out more info about portable TP.
